My first experience with massage led me on a fantastic journey into the healing arts. I did some research (about a year) and chose a school called IPSB (International Professional School of Bodywork) in San Diego, CA where I ended up graduating in 1994. I have been professionally practicing since 1996.
Prior to making the major career change into massage therapy, I was a corporate travel agent in Orange County. I watched myself and others come down with physical ailments due to job stress and repetitive stress injuries. Receiving my first professional massage was to alleviate the headaches I was getting from stressful cubicle, computer and phone work. I couldn’t believe I was pain-free and walking around on cloud 9. I knew then I had to bring this amazing work to my family, friends, co-workers and others. And thus began the journey…
Now 20 years later and working in Monterey, CA and my background experience is in Neuromuscular, Deep Tissue, Swedish (Circulatory), Myofascial, Trigger Point, Medical Massage, Aromatherapy and Reiki (Level II). During that time, I have been honored to work with Children’s Hospital of San Diego employees, Associated Travel (now Carlson Wagonlit) employees in San Diego, Orange County and San Francisco, a group of very cool Australian, New Zealand olympic bicyclists (that was amazing!), golf groups in Palm Desert, Energia and Bernadus Spa and Resort in Monterey County. I have specialized in acute and chronic complications and injuries with my clients as well as harmonizing and relaxing massage – Swedish.
I discovered it’s all about team! In working with clients that combine massage, bodywork and medical massage with physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, physicians as well as personal trainers, yoga and Pilates helps more rapidly to restore their body and mind to optimum health and balance. Medical massage is integral for recovery from accidents, repetitive stress injuries, sports and work related injuries as well as certain disease conditions and provides lasting positive benefits. So with the medical massage background I now work with some fabulous physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and a physician in the area.
We live in very stressful times. More so now than 20 years ago. I am pleased and grateful to be adding Sound Therapy to my work to aid those with anxiety, panic attacks and PTSD. The music and sound that is being used is based upon ancient and modern science from the field of Sound Healing and Therapy, and from prodigious information and research at the Sound and Consciousness Institute in San Francisco.
This music has been designed to help synchronize the
heart, breath and brain. In other words, it relaxes a person so quickly and deeply that can bring a sense of deep peace to alleviating anxiety attacks. Combining this with Swedish massage or just listening to this on the massage table with brings a person to a whole new level of relaxation.
I am very grateful for all my past clientele. They have taught me a great deal. I look forward to my current and future clientele to be able to help them in a manner that will bring them back to a stress-free, harmonious way of living.
